in front of my cichla tank,IL
i made these blueprints in 3d animation i have the support being 4x4s and the top and bottom r 2x6s heres a pic of wat im talking about so do u think it will be good enough to hold a 210?

It may, but it needs improvement.

The platform underneath that tank does not offer uniform support, there will be "high spots" on top of each vertical support where stress will be concentrated on the bottom of the tank. Nor does so many pieces of dimension lumber offer much strength unless you can fasten them really well.

This is not the place for a discussion of strength of materials nor woodworking techniques. I suggest you go to the following web page, and click on the link "DIY Pages" in the left hand menu. Then select one of the automatic stand calculators, enter your dimensions, and print out the plans. Now study them for suggestions on aquarium stand design and construction techniques.

This really is a complex topic and also an area where you just DO NOT want to make a mistake. I applaud your willingness to DIY, you just need a few tips, and were smart enough to ask, so I think you will do well.

k that was a rough drawing cuz i made it when i was half asleep and didnt realize how i made the frames so the way im gonna do it is gonna stand up a 2x4 so its 4inh high and then cut notches in the 4x4s so i can put the 2x4 at the base of it like so heres a rough setch and i am in the process of redoing the model i made and that will make the stand alot stronger than just having the 2x4 or 2x6 laying donw so now i think its inproved enough to start build imo

oh i forgot to mention i will do the same on top and on the bottom of the stand with the 2x4s jointing into the 4x4s

Your choice of construction materials are good. Your construction methods are not very clear so i will not comment on that. Good luck though I am sure it will work out fine. Just do a bit of research on your construction methods.

IMO it looks like it ill be good if you do it like you say especially if yoy sheet it it will give it more support. your lumber should be able to support alot more weight that the tank filled will have and if you run your 2x4s on edge they will spread out the load over the whole length. I like it and I would trust it but thats also just me. I also like the 3d drawing it really works well to show an idea

thanks everyone and thats a nice stand u made jcardona1 just a quick question height wise am i good with 25inch?
