Would this work for a PLANTED nano tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah I didn't realize it till afterwards lol,

your lucky to have stuff lying aroud all this lighting stuff is expensive. All the clamp on lights are all metal halides and all $250+ >.<

how big of a nano r u doing??
figure out the gallonage , then try to get lighting between 3-5 watts per gal,
so if ur doing a small nano,
maybe a gallon,
u really only need a tiny light, just make sure it has a light spectrum which is suitable for plants which is toward the red side

Wpg is easy I just don't understand this light spectrum stuff which is why I only plan on buying a light made for aquariums despite price

just stay between 400-450 wl range which is blueish lighting if u want that for looks,
or 650-700 wl range which is redish lighting ...
the bulbs should say what wl its in,
these are the best ranges for promoting photosynthesis and plant growth

You're making this really complicated, and it's not. Go to home depot, lowes, walmart, or whatever. They will have desk lamps with flexible necks and a cone-shaped reflector. Something like this, for example. (just some pic I found with google)

Get a 6500k CFL bulb, they go up to around 23-26 watts.
