Would this work for a PLANTED nano tank as the sole light source? (besides sun light that makes it in of course)

Holy crap! That thing will cook your tank.

As stated, desk lamp with screw in CFL's. The package should say "daylight spectrum" which is usually in the 6500K - 6700K range. You could also buy a standard hood for a ten gallon which has screw-in light sockets and screw the CFL's into that.

just stay between 400-450 wl range which is blueish lighting if u want that for looks,
or 650-700 wl range which is redish lighting ...
the bulbs should say what wl its in,
these are the best ranges for promoting photosynthesis and plant growth

Most manufacturers will not list what wavelength their bulbs produce because they generally produce way more than just one specific wavelength. That's where the Kelvin rating or "color temp" comes in. It's kind of an average of all the wavelengths put out by a certain source. Also it's important to note that plants use and need both red and blue light for photosynthesis, not just one or the other. So a well balanced light source that has both wavelengths in the 400-450nm and 650-700nm ranges is ideal.

You're making this really complicated, and it's not. Go to home depot, lowes, walmart, or whatever. They will have desk lamps with flexible necks and a cone-shaped reflector. Something like this, for example. (just some pic I found with google)

Get a 6500k CFL bulb, they go up to around 23-26 watts.
thanks im just worried about finding bulbs sorry im kinda of a noob with lighting and yes i DID just say that

tghanks i think ill look into these but the problem is idk how ot tell if they git the lamp or not

They just screw into the same socket as an incandescent bulb, but they're fluorescent. No heat issues and more light per watt than incandescent.

yeah I didn't realize it till afterwards lol,

your lucky to have stuff lying aroud all this lighting stuff is expensive. All the clamp on lights are all metal halides and all $250+ >.<
look on the lowes and home depot websites they seem to have more inexpensive light choices that may work for you
