I have 3 zaire moba frontosas that I am planning on breeding. Would it be okay if I put a ray in there with them? My two main concerns would be
1. Will they spawn with the ray in there, and
2. Will the fronts kill it when they spawn?

I know you can keep the blue dolphins with fronts and they won't kill them when the spawn and there are also some other fish they wont kill.

Would clown loaches be ok too? I know its off topic but the ray is my main concern

Any Ideas?
Has anyone tried this before?

Also if anyone has a 125-150 6 footer for sale in Indiana, I will be interested. As well as black sand or leslies pool filter sand. Even some more moba's

Please Help

Some people have kept Rays with Fronts and they have also kept Clown Loaches.

There is a high chance the Rays will kill the fronts and you need to be careful of any sharp rocks hurting the Rays.

If the Fronts are breeding then there will be conflicts and the rays will eat the young.

Clown loaches may get away with but they have massive tusks which will get stuck in the rays mouth if he eats them, Clowns are notorius for white spot so would need a good UV and they compete for space.

A lot of this depends on size of tank, size of all occupants, individual rays etc...

Not sure if you would be able to get enough food to the Rays.

Personally I would not do it.

I've been keeping Clown Loaches with my Rectic with no problems. But I've also read that Rectics are the least aggressive of all rays.

fronts like to hang around the low-levels of the tank as do rays. fronts need alot of cover while rays need open space. don't think it's a good idea.

I keep clown loaches with my fronts and they do not show aggression during breeding times. Female fronts will hold the eggs (free swimming after 27+ days) and I strip them of their fry.

thanks all! really helps. Just to clear some things up Ill probably only have 3 moba's in a 125 135 or the 150 long, the ray I was going to put in there was going to be a motoro, but if it is not going to work then ill have to work something else out. Im still open to ideas or suggestions though thanks!

From my experience no......the frontosa, after 1 day of introduction----became an expensive---but disease free---feeder.

Well i don't think the ray will eat my fronts because my moba's are 9", 6", 6", and im planning on getting a pup so the size will be alright. I also plan on removing the fry as soon as they are free swimming.
