Would you eat your fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so we know that some members are willing to eat their fish.

the question is..

are you willing to try it sashimi?

No, I do not like the taste of fish. If I raised a cow or deer or something...in heart beat. My friend is a vegan, when he was younger they got him a calf. Then he came home from camp and they had burgers for lunch. He looked out the glass doors and asked where his pet was and dad said dinner. He has not eaten meat since... I would be fine with it. We have family that does 4h and we buy their pigs or show animals all the time.

no way. could be infected by killer paracites.

well, if i had a large fish and it died i would eat it i love it and now it's goin to be part of me . It would be missed but we would be one.

Are you serious, you would eat it because you love it and want it inside your body?? I'm sorry, I just sounds humorous...

There could be other, more valid reasons, like your really hungry and are craving fresh fish.. if you would consider that fresh fish.. Or you don't have money to buy food...

I just thought it was odd to want to do it, for the reason of it being part of you after consuming...

Nevermind me, I'm sure I would do it.. only in a circumstance where I had no other choice.. but for no other reason...

The fish most of us raise are exposed to far fewer chemicals than most pond raised or wild caught fish....I know any fish i raise is safe.....No water conditioners here! My guess is the fish would be a bit on the bland side compared to their wild conterparts due to dietary and space contraints but tasty nonetheless. As for parasites??? Any chef that had cleaned enough wild fish would laugh at that one...(Swordfish has so many worms and large parasites you could not imagine!!)

I wouldn't because I'm vegetarian.
In the general the idea of eating your pet fish even ones that died naturally seems odd. I wouldn't be repulsed if someone else did it.
I'm sure our ancestors would find us odd for raising fish in captivity and not eating them, considering the original purpose of keeping fish was to have a food supply ready to go.

When it comes to raising fish, there is sometimes a fine line between pets and food.
I was at this restaurant once that was raising some animals for their restaurant including fish. They had a couple of fish from their larger ponds that they put into a smaller well like display so guests could see the fish they were raising.
There was also a beautiful display aquarium filled with tropical fish.
