Would you let a total stranger into your home?

My house is 11 years old and the original owner has passed. For a year before. Bought it her children (in there 40s) lived in the home and after almost 7 years I still get calls and letters for them from bill collectors. These dirtbags better not show up on my doorstep because they will not like what I will say to them.
 
I hardly ever even answer the door. Wife answered it two weeks ago and the guy claimed he wanted to upgrade our alarm system for free. I showed up and we both told him no. He still kept pushing to get in the house but we stood in the way and kept telling him no until he finally gave up
 
Every person that randomly knocks on my door is trying to sell magazines or vacuums so I only open it for fedex/ups. And they are usually halfway back to their truck by the time I get to the door because my german shepherd barks nonstop when the doorbell rings. He's cool when friends and family come over but there's been a few visitors that he didn't like and turned into a completely different dog. One time my friends brought some guy over who was high on something and my dog growled the entire time he was there. The next day I found out he got arrested later that night

Lmao..

I always look out the window first and never answer the door to someone unknown unless someone's there with me. I've had bad experiences with this, so therefore trust I no one. I may not own a gun, yet, but believe me anything within reach will become a weapon.

To be honest its pretty scary what i read here. Why do you need to be so scared? Why open a door while holding a gun? Is that really necessary there? I thought that is only in movies? I don't think such a violent society has a positive effect on your health. Idk what to say about this. Maybe such a hostility between the people is wanted to seperate people from each other?
 
When i was 12 i had the scariest moment of my life... No joke... I heard a knock on my door and looked through the look hole thing and this guy was there with a big knife... I got my mom and it turns put he was a doors to doors salesman who sells kitchen knives and appliances...
