would you mix this lap with this ornate?

Nice growth rate , could grow them out more but I think they will be fine,

I have introduced a 8" ornate to my tank with couple 20" endlies and a 16-18" ornate had no issues, I've also added a couple lap's not to long ago, they were about 8-10" on arrival, I have had no issue at all. My endlies and ornate have both eaten prey bigger then these lap's but I've yet to see any of my bicirs act predatory toward each other (knock on wood), in fact the small ones seem more comfortable with the larger ones present, they stay close to the larger ones most of the time.

I also agree nipping is typical display of dominance/ territorial behaviors. My ornates (especially older males) always were worst for nipping at the fins of others, while i find the endlies tend to snap at the side, almost more of a head bunt mouth open then a bite, but it comes with ALOT more power lol most fish learn quick that the endlies are boss.

A couple pick for size comparison !

well, based on ur pics i think i could get away with it. i think i will still wait a few weeks at this point since i have already removed the lap.

It's probably a wise choice to grow it out more. If you planned to risky it then make sure your bichirs are well fed. I have 6" ornate with 20+" bichirs. During feed time I can see it being intimidated.

That ornate is only 6"? wow those big guys make him look bigger. And that head on the congicus is massive lol I know I'd have a least a couple of worries in my head if I had those 2 sizes in the tank, but It look like that ornate is pretty thick.

I had a 10" lapradei with a 24" congicus before. Along with a 10" weeksii. It was fine.

WOW , nice congi!
