Would you pay $30 for him

The only real answer is whether it is worth $30 to you. Compared to what maintaining a tank (or tanks) costs, $30 isn't that much if you really would like that particular fish. If it is an impulse purchase, then perhaps wait to see if it seems like a good idea in a few days. Jags aren't rare, and like others have said, you could raise a small one to that size in short order.

Ya 30.00 seems like a bit much

I just seen a 9" male jag for $15 yesterday, so it's high imo, but if you like it buy it.

that is a female. WC and F1 Jags go for $10 a inch, 5" a good deal at 30 if one of those. bought mine for $60,, wild female at 6 to 7"

I wouldn't. You asked.....

for a unknown brood stock I would say no,, $15 be a good price.

I was offered a very nice looking 14" male jag when I first bought my 220 last year for $20 so to me that's high

All depends on the situation....I had not had a jag in over a decade and decided to get one... over a year ago bought one at the LFS for $5.99....it turned out to be female..but I was intent on getting a male.... A couple of months later when I was out of town I saw a really nice looking 4+ inch jag that looked to be male and I don't often see very nice ones in my area ..It was $29.99... I didn't really like the price but I wasn't going to get a second chance so I went ahead and bought it.... If it's what you want and you don't usually see it go for it.....

$10. to $15. tops depending on how bad you really want it. Only you decide what is the right price for you to pay for it. Very nice looking fish though.
