When peop0le tell you there gonna do something and don't, all bets are off. Do what you feel like doing, all cordination in this situation is over. You'd be a fool not to take control of it now.

I had thought that when he dropped the tank off I could say I didn't have the cash on me and tell him I would drop by the shop the next day, then wait a couple of weeks/months before I went and payed up and give a fresh story every time he called. But I don't think he is dropping the tank off now. There is no negotiation for a discount with that option either.

I would discuss your situation with the competition. Explain to them how you are upset with this guy but you have the voucher. I am certain that in the interest of gaining a new loyal customer and capitalize off of this other shops failure they will honor the voucher or give you some sort of deal. You might not break even or save off the deal but I think they will make sure you dont get screwed.

Well I went to the shop, the guy is on holidays till the 2nd, tank is not finished. I spent my voucher and that's the end of it. Pity that I will not be shopping there anymore but I don't need to be messed around any more. My decision was confirmed today as mid conversation the attendant talking to me just walked off to talk to someone else.

I wish I had canceled the order a few months ago. I kept going with promises from a guy I have been dealing with for a couple of years for most of my fishy supplies.

Acrylic tanks aren't that common around here and it is really not that big a tank so glass was the natural option. Also I will have a pleco in there and apparently they can scratch acrylic. Usually Drilling panes then assembly would be a good idea but in this case the tank builder and modifier were different people/companies. Next tank will be done all by one person so they will have control of the process.

I don't have much patience for that kind of stuff, I would take it somewhere else but it's up to you.

5 months to drill holes in a glass tank? Ridiculous!
This guy obviously does not appreciate your business so i would take my money elsewhere. You've given no down payment so have no ties whatsoever to this fool. I'm glad you spent your voucher and are done with the place. I have no patience whatsoever for bad business practices and i would make sure that people know how i was treated by this store/guy.
I work in construction and do lots of side jobs. For every good job you do 3 people will take note. For every bad job dozens of people take note. Let people know, like i said there is someone much more professional out there waiting for your business and will appreciate you for it too.

Today I went to the LFS that I had ordered the tank from as I knew the guy would be back from holidays and I needed to tell him that I wasn't going ahead with the tank and I needed to get my bulkhead fittings back (he had them to size the holes correctly).

Well I told him I was looking elsewhere for a tank and I was really unhappy with his service. He promptly dropped the price down to I am guessing around cost price, he promised to finish it today and deliver it after work. so I agreed. True to his word I now have a new tank sitting on the nearly finished stand and my I saved lots of dough for livestock, plants and substrate. I guess I just really had to put my foot down. He also said I had been a good customer for a long time now and he didn't want to lose my business. So considering the discount I got he actually put his money where his mouth is.
