:WHOA:

This is a 75 from glass cages. It has been sitting on my garage floor waiting for me to cut a hole in it and make it a filter. It has been hot and cold in there and it hasn't really been moved much. I did slid it out of the way a few times but not far and its flat. Well today I see this on the back corner. Its not all the way through the glass...it's in the middle of the long pain of glass. Its still smooth on the outside and inside silicon and all. So I don't think it would leak...but would it hold???? As a sump it would have 6" of water unless the pump was off then it would have some more. Tank it would be a filter for is a 240 long....

tough call.... id fill it outside for a month and see what it does and the go from there

If it were mine, I'd take the tank out back with a sledge hammer and get as much fun out of it as I could.

If you fill it up and let it sit out back for at least a month with no problems and you're only going to put in small fish, then maybe you could......but if it were my tank I'd destroy it.

Edit/ ohhhhh just saw the sump thing. Same goes as stated above though. Go nuts with some silicone.

I really dont know if I would ever feel 100% safe with that....just seems like a tickin time bomb. Maybe someone would buy it as a reptile tank. Recoup a little money...

yea why the hell would you smash it. at the very least use it for a terarrium or sell it to someone as one as well

In my opinion 6in of water is not that much weight to be pushing on that crack. What i would do is cut some 90 degree(or angle iron) aluminum to cover the crack and glue it on with urathane sealant(like bostik 920). Since its only going to be a sump, i'm sure the tank is going to be covered by a stand of some sort, so you won't see the fix. Also the metal will help brace the glass as will the urathane sealant.

p.s. dont use the urathane sealant on the inside, only the outside, because it has some nasty chemicals in it.

Not pretty but a good idea.
