Been thinking of selling some african clawed frogs as pets. Some of the more rare species (borealis, muerelli?, others) and some of the different Laevis morphs (albino, reticulated, pied). There isn't many places to get some of the more rare types if at all. Very sporadically at best. I've been raising these frogs for quite sometime now and have bred them before. I like these frogs a lot and think it would benefit others if people can get them.

The normal wild color Laevis type of ACF are much easier to find. So was just wondering if people would buy young frogs as feeders for some of the larger fish out there (aros, gars etc.). Of course they would be of quality and a fair price. Just want to see what is out there before I get more into this.

All opinions are appreciated! As feeders or as pets! Anything.

Made this in the general forum too, but with keeping gars before I know how hard it is to get them on pellets. Figured I would ask people who use feeders even if they wish they didn't have to! Hope I can keep both threads open mods. The general forum and this forum is a whole different ballpark imo.

I love those. I didn't know they came in different colors. I honestly looked for some locally for months and eventually gave up and moved on to something else. I think it's a great idea! As far as feeders go....they're too cute! Haha. I've been scratched by those guys though and I remember it not feeling good.

I'm going to move this one to the Polypterus sub-forum as African clawed frogs (as well as the dwarf African clawed frogs) are a natural prey item for many species of bichir. It might also be a good idea to post this in the Reptiles & Amphibians section.

Please do not discuss sales outside of the Marketplace, though; keep these threads purely informational.

Interesting.I never knew that but I was going to comment that there must be some nice sized bichirs out there...I think I recall reading that some arowana keepers like to feed frogs to their aros.

Thanks! I know some mods get upset if you post multiple threads of the exact same topic, but some people only go to certain sub-forums and never venture out of them. Appreciate it.

+1. I Would Be Interested In Buying Some 4 my POLYS:D

PM me if you decide to sell some as i am very interested:)

I think they are better as pets. There is plenty of other food for feeders. And if you did sell them as feeders you better have one heck of a deal to even be worth it to people.

Their claws can scratch you especially when they jettison off of you if they are spooked. Not purposely of course, but you can feel it. Lol

That's exactly why I want to do this. Some cities have them if you are lucky while others do not. Some are cheap in price while others are crazy expensive. To be able to supply the different morphs for those people who want them. I don't think there's a huge market out there, but that's because they aren't even out there. Wild color acf's are out there, but rarely anything special unless it's a ma and pa shop.

Your not the first who have told me they can be cute as young frogs. Lol My gf thinks their cute until they grow into eating machines.
