Would you use african clawed frogs as feeders?

expensive feeders!

I think they are better as pets. There is plenty of other food for feeders. And if you did sell them as feeders you better have one heck of a deal to even be worth it to people.

I like them as pets too. You never see them as feeders though. It might be a new market to corner. With a single female laying from 500 upwards to 2k a laying and with experience I don't think they would have to be expensive to sell. Their easy to care for and to feed truthfully.I could be wrong though, that's why I'm asking now. :D

I know a lot of poly keepers do feed frogs. The only issue with these guys is the claws. They could definitely take out an eye of a fish eating them. I had an aquariu, store and maintenance company for 10 years. Not a single supplier ever had a regular coloured ACF in that time. They were always albino.

Very true on the claws, their only defense could harm a fish. Just morphed or even not morphed tadpoles would be the best bet to use and less chance of anything happening.

Just albino?! Hearing all of these weird stories like this makes me want to definitely try this. Were they considered WC by the supplier?

Could you post some pics of the wild, regular colored, and pied morphs? I currently have an albino female and love her. Never knew about the other color variations.

I would love to add these to the list of food for my Fahaka... The claws wouldn't be a problem, as he can take down 4" crays, claws and all!

Here's a wild color morph. Also called a green or olive ACF. Their just the basic ACF you would find in the wild. These two are my females. The rest are just from google images.

You obviously know about the albinos, here is a reticulated albino though.

This is the piebald ACF. They used to be super rare to find. I know of one site that sells them, but that's it. Still pretty rare nonetheless.

These are all Laevis species.

They were all captive bred. I don't think anyone really imports WC ACF anymore. They're bred by the millions for the school system and for medical research.

I figured they had to be. Just wasn't sure why they would never have the wild color morph.

Awesome. Thanks for your opinion!

My bullhead once ate a clawed frog. The bullhead was so happy for few days.
