I don't care much for floaters but dwarf water lilies have floating leaves and flowers, stay where you put them, provide shade and a nice thicket of stems that don't interfere with fish movement, are fairly hardy, and won't overwhelm your tank. Can you tell that I like them?

Its a good idea actually. You have arowanas and bichirs .. great jumpers specially when stressed. Having plants above them makes them feel more comfortable with their environment.

:iagree:

Yep deffinatley a good idea

I don't have enough light to keep live floating plants in my pred tanks. However, I do grow FW onion plants in those tanks. They're a tuberous plant that developes a huge strong root bundle and leaves up to 5 ft long at an inch wide that float to and along the surface. Their light requirements are minimal and they don't taste good to fish (IMO since none of my fish will bite into them).
