My only concern would be not being able to sell enough to survive. As a side business it would be awesome. When I worked at a pet store we sold mostly bread and butter fish with the occasional exotic.

There need to be an abundant supply of fish available to people that do not know about, or cannot afford the exotics as well. Actually might end up be the majority of your income. As long as you had the availability to order or have a few exotics on hand though, it should work out fine.

ps. i would ship and have a website as well. most snakes would be bred by as as well as the gliders and maybe the fish. we will also have all feeders ( mice rats fish crix) most bred by us some ordered just bc of conveineince

That's the thing. Most of those guys and girls started out with the same view point. Unless you have a pre determined and dedicated customer base set up you won't make ends meet with exotics only. I have three people I know in the north east that started shops. All had the same idea, exotics only. Two went under one started carrying bread and butter fish. I get the allure and joy of being an exotics only dealer but the reason you don't see any is because they don't survive.

Again if this is NOT your pay check but a fun side hobby/business then all thumbs way up.

yea i see your point and by no means is this goin to be my main income. just a side venture. but it will prob be really small nothin super crazy. and i guess maybe some bread and butter fish
but i have made a aoth that there will never be a single hermit crab sold in my store
that seems to be the down fall
an dif times get tough i can just close it down and just move my collection to my house its a win win situation
