Do you have an open heater in the aquarium? I havent read the old thread so i dont know if youve already answered that. The ph is nice, i have mine on 7,5. You should have the same ph in the aquarium as in the tap water, as it makes it much easyer to change water, and you are able to do large changes if needed.. Often with rays the ph drop becouse of the heavy load they have on the aquarium, to compensate that i took crushed shells(from sea) and added to the sand. In time i would have changed to sand if i were you, the rays love to hide away.

A little more info may be needed to try and help

Temp
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate

Tankmates

Is it possible there may be copper in the tank?

Are there any sharp decorations in the tank?

Temp: 25 C
Ammonia: Dont know
Nitrite: <0.3 mg/l
Nitrate: Dont know

Tankmates: 2 hujeta, 1 florida gar, 1 Anostomus anostomus, 1 Synodontis eupterus.

My LFS dont have any tests for ammonia or nitrate so I cant buy any. At least not right now.
He thought that maybe the anostomus could be the problem. What do you think?

need to get a good tester. One that you can test the Nitrates, Nitrites, ammonia and ph. Usually its around 30 bucks at your local pet store for a tester (liquid test kit) or order off ebay if you cant get one at your local pet store.
Have you seen any of the other tankmates pick on the ray?
The rocks in the tank you are using for sustrate might not be good either. Rocks are hard on a rays disk. Sand or bare bottom is better and helps keep the tank cleaner also. If he is trying to hide under the rocks, he might be getting wounds on him from that as well.

Some anostromus are very aggresive especially the Black banded leporinus. I dont know much about the other Anostomus.
Possibly could be your problem.

Is the ray eating? His tail looks real skinny. Usually if a ray eats, then everything is doing pretty good.
I really doubt that it is ammonia, or nitrite issue. Looks to be from another fish or from sharp decoration in the tank.

He's pretty much laying in the same position all the time. He has changed position during the day, but everytime I look at him he's just resting.
That also means I dont think he's eating, at least I havent seen him doing it.

He was eating two days ago (first day I got him) and yesterday.

looks captive bred. the tail is awful long for a wild caught. I would be sure that your tank is clean. when in doubt do a water change, cant go wrong with that. i would remove anything that could be stressing it out, including tank mates or decorations. I would get some black worms, or chop up earthworms real small. I would turn he lights off so he will feel more comfortable. Dont forget, anytime when you ssupect something isnt right, start off with waterchanges!
