You should take him to the vet
i know but they charge like 60$ just to look at him, and when they gave one of my turtles a shot it was ove 50$ i cant imagine how much it would cost to fix him. i was hoping there was something i coud do myself. we cant afford the vet.

I wish I could help, but I agree with above, take him to a vet, or maybe even a local nature center than has turtles.

YOu should check this guy out, he might have a video on it and he really knows his stuff and will return messages:

I would suggest getting some betadine or iodine and putting it on the wound once or twice a day to keep it from getting infected or to kill an infection. Otherwise, i don't really think it is treatable. What happened to him?

really i have no idea what happened to him. i purchased him from loggerhead acres turtle farm as well as a razorback musk and spiney softshell. the spiney softshell died 2 days later and 5 or 6 days later i picked him up and saw it. it was only about a quarter of the size tas it is now. i have some stuff i bought at petsmart called repti-wound healing aid and i put it on there 2-3 times. i will put it on more often.

Not trying to be rude, but if you can't afford the possible vet bill's which is basic upkeep of an animal you might reconsider having the animal. Thing's happen, and animals need vet care it's part of being a responsible animal owner. Best of luck to you, and your turtle. I hope you can find a solution to your problem with a positive outcome.

call me crazy but my little sister brought 4 baby red eared sliders home from a fleamarket about quarter size all with eye infections and i was told that cod fish oil would help heal the infection and now the turtles are about 12 inchs and livin good. you can get it at wallmart or any drug store fore cheep
