Somewhere
I just went to the petstore (Petland). I don't go there often. But today I was looking through their fish. Any ways... I over heard a conversation...

Customer: How many fish can I put in my tank?
Employee: How big is the tank?
Customer: Its a 30gl.
Employee: You can put 30 fish in it.
Customer: Really... Wow!! What if they are all 6in.
Employee: Ohh!! Ok then I would put 15 to 20 fish in it.
Customer: Wow that's allot of fish. I should get more fish.

OMG!!! I about died when I heard this....

he is referring to the 1 inch per gallon rule. its standard to tell people that in when you work at a fish store.but it only works when the fish doesnt exceed 3 inches.

i told my co worker that and she said no!, i worked here longer then you. i was like what ever and walked away.

Ugh! Someone print that sticky thread about gallon per rule and shove it under their noses.

That's absolutely hilarious! I've heard people say similar things. Too bad for the person recieving what they think is good information.

I believe that LFSs should have a sign that says, "Our employees and staff have no knowledge on fish or their care, please research you fish before buying".

Buy I know no fish store would do this since they depend on the idiot customers wasting their money. They wouldnt have a business if everyone knew better.

You just about died, yet did you add any of your knowledge to the convesation, or just come here and cry about it?

Problem is the uneducated customer will believe the 'super-knowledgable' fish store employee before some other customer. After all, he's a fish store employee, he must know what he talking about.

Most likely he was referring to the 1 inch per gallon rule.

I mean you can put about 30 neons, or some kind of other small growing tetras and barbs in a tank that big.

But if that fish is 6" long, at most you can only put in 4.

The other problem with petland is that it is a rather small chain and currently most of the stores are suffering. Unfortunately, employees need to do everything they can to get sales or they get fired.
