WOW just measured my RTC

I would not begin to suggest to say that his fish is 9 pounds, but here's some food for thought for you. I know you all miss my random messages. A RTC is not only wider and more bulky than a channel catfish but also has almost 4 times the bone mass. It's what you don't see under the skin that counts when it comes to weight. Having disected many channels and RTC's I have to concure that a rtc of the same length as a channel cat would probably wiegh 75%-100% more based on everything combined. Some more food for thought. I recently moved and had the nice task of moving my RTC x TSN hybrid which measured right at 31 inches long and on the scale wieghed in at 20 lbs. and 3 ozs. Granted he's thick as hell, and too much food for his own good. Just saying that maybe his fish wieghs more than what you think. Comparing the wieght of a RTC based on data from a Channel cat is not a good way to go about it. Fish wiegh different amounts based on the amounts of fat, protien, and calcium in their bodies. I measured skulls from a rtc that was 21 inches and from a channel that was 22 inches. The actual thickness of the cranium wall of the channel cat was .12 inches, and that of the RTC was .43 inches. There's my two cents like it or not.

:D Here I caught this :) 25" and 6" across :) On the low side of 7 lbs.. Channel Cat

I could fit My fist in mouth and have room :) And mine was on a scale :) Still not a RTC but at 16" I would say it is very hard for that fish to be 9 lbs :) I say ZOO should go get a scale and just see just to see..

Well then... That is a more convincing reply.. Maybe it is near nine lbs.. But without a scale really hard to believe... But that is more convincing :)
