WOW just measured my RTC

not saying it is nine pounds probably more like 5-7, but definitely heavier than what everyone thinks. My hybrid measures 11 inches wide at his fat *** gut. Just thought you should know since everyone is including their widths here. He currently eats 1 lb. tilapia every other day, and about 1/4 lb. of shrimp on the days inbetween that.

In the first post he says the he measured the fish and he weighed close to 9 pounds. It's implied that there was some kind of scientific method used to come up with 9 pounds...like for instance a scale. I would hope he used a tape measure for the measurement.

A simple response in defence that would have shut this down would have been the actual fish's weight after he weighed it. He just gave a random guess at the weight so it should be case closed. He has no idea if the fish weighs 4 pounds or 9 pounds and can't defend either. There are now 3 pages of posts trying to defend his guess at a fishes weight. Pull it out and go weigh it. He should have just posted the length.

I personally just like to debate, lol. You are right that he should have just put the length and left the wieght to everyone's imagination. Instead he inspired this constructive debate that led to people being more informed about how much certain fish wiegh at certain lengths. It is important to know wieght of your fish when you have large fish so that you know how large of a bioload you have and can adjust your filtration accordingly.

very cool the biggest ones i have seen where at a place called prehistoric pets in fountain valley, so cal and they had to be like 10 15 pounds way big. my biggest i have had is about 14" there sweet, but for sure tank busters if not in the right tank lol
