nah you have to kill the crabs before you cook em because they taste like sh*t if you don't. This only applies to large adult crabs. I've been helping out with cooking crabs for god know show long and the way my family has taught me how to do it is shove a thin long object down its mouth. All the liquid that leaks out after is all the nastiness that'll make your crab taste like poop if you don't.

yeaahhh...if they just dropped it in the boiling water, that would've been the most humane way as the boiling water would kill it instantly providing that you drop it head first.

ive always dropped lobster and crabs in boiling water alive, never had them taste like s**t... but its mostly dunginus (sp?) and spiny lobster from the local beaches.

I agree.I was taught to go through the mouth in an upward direction and move side to side.It works a lot quicker than the method in this vid.Take out the brain and its quick.Killing them first also stops them throwing thier legs etc while you are cooking them.

As for the guy in this vid,surely he would know it's brain is not in its backside.

We boil crabs several times a year 2-3 dozen each time
Along with crawfish by the sack 35-40lbs

If I suggested to my family that we should kill each crab or crawfish before boiling them
