imagine if that guy was just fishing with a little worm on a little hook, then all of a sudden.... WHAM! 
Arapaima gigas, also called piracuru, from the Amazon basin, listed as a CITES II species since 1975, they are still available fairly often as juvies, they are nest builders and are listed as reaching more than 15' long and 400 pounds.
