Consider the fact that adult large mouth and small mouth bass are two of our most aggressive predatory native fish. Juvenile gars do not stand a chance against them. Now consider an adult gar and juvenile bass. The speed of the bass and the rounder body size means that even an adult gar will likely have trouble catching and fitting a bass down its gape.

Realistically I feel that the baby gar are less safe than baby bass... oh well.
 
thats just stupidity at its finest, i fish on fort hood a lot and there are plenty of places where there are gar and no bass, not because the gar ate all of them but more likely idiots like these over fished them and decreased the population. its amazing to see what conclusions people come to with no factual evidence. if they would take the time to examine these gar and take the time to enjoy them and the fight they cann give when properly caught they would have a whole new respect for them. i really dont like mosquitos- i think i'll tape all their mouths shut.
 
Well it seems it is what it is. I'll see if i can take a few pics. If anyone knows what a Marine Casual is, that is what these Mother***ers are. I guess there is a reason why they arn't Marine anymore. I'm a Vet too :P
 
What base is it I have some connections with high ranking officers as well as a lt col for the army in my family and after talking to them they all feel we can prolly get a investigation started into the situation with a few phone calls.
 
Thats pretty sweet you got the hook up. However, an investigation also includes bringing me in for questioning. They are about to be kicked out of the marines anyway. An investigation would adversely effect my career, even though I'm not in trouble, its an investigation on my file, that I could really do without.

I'd say the same thing but in all honesty call your local game warden or range control if it is on post - keep it anonymous and provide all info that you can. I'd feel compelled to do at least that much.
 
There would be no reason for them to investigate you. The basis would be an anonymous call from fisherman fishing the river near the base finding gar with duck tape on them and them feeling strongly for some reason they came from the base. But as much as I dont like it it is your choice. My concern is after they get the boot they are likely to go somewhere else and continue the behavior if they are not confronted about it now.

dont talk the talk if your not willing to walk the walk, and by the way, with a picture of you, and the knowledge of where you live and work, anyone with some spare time on their hands can find out who you are, and with this thread saved, you could still get dragged into an investigation, maybe for questioning why you know whats going on but are willing to cover it up.
