Wow, I don't know what to think of these. All I know is I would house them by themselves. I'd be afraid they could get hurt by the claws of another turtle. Very weird.
I was thinking the same thing. One little scratch could probably lead to a pretty nasty infection with their sensitive shells.
I really don't think it's cruel, but now if he tried to mass produce these guys and sell a whole bunch of them, I think that would be pretty cruel.

The membrane seems like it would be easily damaged!!!

nature made em and its up to nature to decide if they live or die

we can sit back and talk about all the problems they "may" have but it doesnt change anything.

you can tell that they are healthy, i thnk as long as it doesnt effect their quality of life its pretty cool

HOLLY #$%&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never thougth that such a thing existed:WHOA: I wouldnt classify them as shell less, it apears that the entire shell is lacking the protective layer of scales and its covered by the same material that apears in the scale goins of normal turtles. It is basicly the same that happened many millions of years ago with soft shell turtles. It would be cool to make a DNA analisis to see what genes cause this mutacion and if there is something similar in the genome of soft shell turtles that may have cause it to happen in the past, if this was the way they got their scale less latery shells, that is;) I think with time they may get some ceratin covering wich will protect them but defenetly they face the same hazards softys face daily. And what will happen when it comes to shed their old scale layer like normal sliders do? Dont know:confused: Very cool but not something I would spend 900dollars on:grinno:
