Well I have removed the driftwood and water is clearing up.. how do I properly cure this wood... they are all rather large pieces and yes they were almost spongey... but boiling them would definitely be rather hard.. other ideas?

Spongy driftwood will continue to contribute to organics in your tank. It will continue to disintegrate as nature intends.

Can you remove the spongy portions with a wire brush or hard plastic bristle brush or would that really alter the look of your driftwood?

Do you know what kind of driftwood it is or did you get it from outside?

is it like flakes after the change when you turn your pumps on if it is its scale build up in the hoses theu make brushes to clean them

No... this is my water looking very, unclear and only at the top...the whole bottom is clear thought so that is why I don't understand what is causing this whole problem... Still no algae.. And my t5s make it look worse...but I removed drift wood and still no suck luck... MORE IDEAS PLEASE!!!
