My halfbeak is acting oddly. He was on the bottom of the tank, and he had translucent dots all over his body. I was wondering what I could do. He doesn't want to eat anymore.

Last night, my halfbeak developed the bend in the spinewhich means he isn't going to recover. I shoudn't of switched its tanks. The tank with all of the sick fish recovered this morning. He was one of my favorite fish, and I hoped that if I moved him to the brackish tank he would be happy like my other one who is living there right now. I was an idiot for thinking that. the halfbeak was fine immediatly, but the 2 were fighting now, so I had to move it back. This is how it got the bend in its spine.
He started to eat again today. Unfortunatly, he ate my newborn mollies. Well, at least he's eating. His spine also seams to have straightened out. I will watch him carfully for the next few days to make sure he doesn't get sick again. What happened was there was too much nitrate in the water. Don't be stupid like me and keep 11 fish in a ten gallon aquarium.
Small 1-3mm translucent dots are often chillodonell (if whitish) or costia (if clear and glistening) in either case the salt streatment as for ich usually clears it up, forma-green is also effective. In the future try using 1 tpsp salt /5 gallons for general fish keeping, this prevents costia and helps with fish that prefer slightly saline water such as halfbeaks.
After my halfbeak finally healed, It now has hole in the head!! Any more suggestions? He is my favorite fish.Treat with metronidazole and improved nutrition, gut loaded small crickets, especially if fed vitamin and calcium supplements should work for a halfbeak. Make sure the fish has a little salt in the water to improve slime coat. Read sticky on HITH
