'photo of the month' competition should be judged on how the fish look and its overall surroundings. you guys who judge it on what camera its taken with are just silly. should re-name the event 'what fishkeeper has the best DSLR' gear 2010.

nope, award goes to best photo, as of the time gerry's been here and entered the contest he flat out dominated not because of the gear he shoots with but because how much better and more entertaining his shots are than anyone else who enters the contest, many of the guys with the "best DSLR gear" don't even enter the contests.

Did i miss somebody saying they vote for the camera?

The truth is people vote for the FISH alot more than the camera. I have no dout the best quality should get the vote. But i can say for sure you put a amazing shot of Kelberi and the same of a Pacu. There in NO dout on this site the Bass wins everytime.

I know there alot of good guys that dont enter potm ect.. AK being one of them.

I'm missing your hang up with the "dslr gear"? I think most people could care less. JMO

Aw shucks, thanks, Ed. :) You do hit on a key point, tho. It's important to entertain or tell a story with your pix.

What story was your Dec 08 - Photo of the Year winner telling?

IMO It's just a beautiful shot. Nothing more nothing less.

for many people that vote here it's about the picture and the subject, Aro's and pbass win because not only the shots, but they are interesting super colorful monsters that not everyone gets the chance to keep or has the ability to provide what they need, i can fully understand why they get votes. and as far as if most people could care less than they can choose to stay out of this thread, i reccomend the same to you if you don't understand the points i was trying to cross through here and are irratated by this.

It could represent what you might see if you were swimming in a murky river and this guy swam up to check you out. Like I said, I know what I'm trying to capture when I shoot pics. I already have the picture in my head before I try to shoot it. What might a particular fish look like or behave like in it's natural environment? How does this species breed or feed? Can I get those images for others to see? Things that are interesting to people. Things that might give a different perspective. An image that might show the grace of a particular fish.

edited.
