So ive had a few dirted tanks in the past and have always used miracle grow organic but after i fully set up the dirted 29 i realized that the miracle grow organic and the miracle grow regular potting mix bins had been switched and i grabed the wrong one!..... the tank is all set up and done but am afraid ill be getting amonia spikes..... i only used .5 of an inch and capped with about 2 inches of substrate.....

My question is will it be ok if u do continious water changes?..... its a 29 gallon filled to about 20 gallon and will only hold 15 male guppies for the gf.....

More then likely going to have extrem ammonia spikes over the next 3-6 months and a bunch of so he from all the excesse nutrients being released. Might be easyer to redo the tank at the very least I would let it run with out live stock for a couple months and monitor the levels.

That's what I said this morning

I already knew that i was going to get an amonia spike and was already prepared to do multiple water changes over time if i didnt replace the soil.....

My main question is if the soil is safe due to perlite and other additives.....the amonia will leach out eventually thats not the issue

If any of the other additives wont be toxic to fish ill just continue to pish down on the substrate to release gases and do water changes...
