It may be a good idea for you to pass a pic by Solomon or I...
No offence to Aquascape but they have made mistakes on this.

Ill to get some pics asap. They look a lot different than the florida/spotted that I have been seeing come into the market. Hopefully what I have truly are alligator gars. I have 2 of them.

I just "rescued" this guy about 4 days ago. I believe he's an alligator gar. He was in a 20 gallon plastic tub with no heater, a 12" managuense, and a 5" red devil. I'm going to fatten him up a bit and make sure he's healthy, then he's going up for sale. He took some krill tonight, frozen/thawed.

Excuse my ignorance but...
In the aquarium trade, what species is commony referred to as an alligator gar?

What is it the fish I have? L. platyrhincus?

All gar get labeled alligator gar....
Your gar would be Lepisosteus platostomus or Shortnosed gar

I dont think i've ever seen a fully grown alligator gar in an aquarium, they get so big no one ever keeps them long enough
