Old water or used Media can contain any parasites or pathogens. Unless you using Used Dry Media or setup a new tank with your own tap water and let it cycle up. Parasite or pathogens are every where in the media and aquarium water, but most health fishes has their immunity system to againt those parasites or pathogen or bad bacteria. The quicker to kill the fish if your tank is not cycled.
