yeah, that is kind of expensive for such a small motoro. A while back they had some 4" super marbled motoros for $150 also. I regret not buying one 
Get thta bigger tank before you get a ray.....40 gal is not even big enough to keep a 5" ray of any kind.... 
you might be better off getting on offline. Chicago will be very $. Oh there is a place in Champaign, Ill called Sailfin that has stingrays. Not a big selection, but they do have some. They have a web site. I think it is www.sailfin.com... www.riverwonders.com sell rays. There are people on this site that sell them too. Go to the sell/buy part and you will find someone. Good luck.
$150 in greater Chicago land for a motoro is quite reasonable.
Two years ago (before the ban) leopoldi were selling for $1000 there.
