Wtf a carnivorous pleco species!!!

ok this book has to have issues, it says that the scarlet pleco L25 is a carnivore, and that it needs a diet of only muscle tissues and shrimp. and it is not an algea eater!!! i will take a pix of that page of the book, when the camera is working

The lack of pictures, scientific name, links or book titles leads me to the conclusion that this thread is bull.... .

Also, L25 is a carnivore, not a predator, but it does eat mostly meat. All Pseudacanthicus do.

There are many more carnivorous plecos, but none of them is really what you'd call predatory.

So where are the pics and other information of this "pleco" exactly? This can put skepticism to rest.

Carnivorous and Predatory are 2 different things, IMO. Just because it eats meat, doesn't necessarily means that it hunts. Most Plecos "hunt" worms. I've even heard that my Vampire Pleco will hunt small fish, but it was successfully kept in a community tank with small Tetras with no losses, but if I throw in a piece of cut fish or shrimp, he'll be the first on top of it.

lol wasn't thinking... so changed response....purely carnivorous!!! that is sick!! can someone answer this though....i thought most plecos are omnivors.. my common pleco has swam to the top and robbed the frozen cichlid food from my texas...lol i don't feed live fish but i heard that if small enough a pleco will swallow feeders(never tried or seen) but there is meat in the frozen food and he has ate that... will they eat feeders?

Yes your correct and IVe heard of Plecos getting territorial and killing small bottom dwellers like Pictus and small Bullheads other members on Mfk have reported bottomfish killed by their Plecos.

oh i have had a chocolate albino pleco destroy a cory catfish, he left me a nice little piece of dorsal fin.
