I wouldn't have said anything if I was only one minute late, your boss sounds like a D***, not because of the fish but because he even care you where 1 minute late. Sorry for the loss.

I'm sure if I were salaried, it would be no problem, but hourly.... totally different. We have a timestamp system that we have to log into and submit our times in the morning, at lunch, and leaving at night. The times accrue towards "points" that in our company add up to different amounts of discipline, up to termination. She's really an awesome boss, by far the best I have had. I have always been stuck with managers that don't back you up for your actions. Her policy is "if you have a reason for your action, then I will stand by you and fight. "

Sorry for your loss, but isn't that a full grown specimen? Could be that she just died of old age. That's a fate that any aquarium fish aspires too.
isn't it weird how attached we can get to a fish? I've got a pumpkinseed that is the most personable fish I've ever owned, beating puffers and (dare I say it) cichlids with his endearing personality. As soon as you walk in the room, he's looking at you. Your lying in bed, he's watching. Your vacuming, and he's swimming his tank length just to be near you. You approach the tank and he gets just as excited as a puppy at dinnertime. he lets me pet him, he'll playfull bite at my fingers, and he chases bubbles. He also gets turkey drunk when he gets a big nightcrawler. He sinks to the bottom with this glossy look on his face, and sit's there leaning to the side a little.
I would be very highly upset if he were to go, and not many people get that. Some people just don't understand the attachment animal people get to their animals.
Once again, sorry for your loss.
