I don't know why ick keeps coming back.

My fish keep flicking off the rocks.

First time, I treated with heat and salt.

It came back with in 2 days.

Second time, I treated the tank with quick cure.

They started flick off the rocks again after 3 days.

I have noticed some days the fish don't flick off the rocks at all.

Could it be the water supply? Could the fish have something else?
Was the tank not treated for long enough?

How long are you treating your tank for on each breakout?

I know with my tank I had to treat for 14 days. Not only did one of my fish not lose her ick for 7 days, but I know the ick will just be in the water and latch onto the fish again.

Make sure you treat 5 days after the last spot disappears. Keep the heat up and the salt.. and make sure you vacuum your gravel so you can get all the microscopic ick particles out of it.

Are you sure its ich (small white spots)? Fish rubbing themselves off rocks is usually an indication of high ammonia in a tank............

Maybe I will re treat with quick cure for 14 days.

Raising the temp to 85 cost a fortutin in NY, it is an extra 50 dollars on my electric bill.

I am not sure if it is Ick. I think the silver dollars have the spots but i am not sure.

I doubt it is ammonia but I will re check. The ammonia is normally at 0 with an fx5 and an AC110 on a 75g.

It worries me when u say ammonia is "usually" 0.

It should always be zero.

What are your stocks? How many fish? Are all 3 trays full of bio media?

If your overstcked and itch breaks out, then u add meds...and in future u don't lower the stock level, chances are whitespot will remain in the tank/water/fish,.... Only to break out again later.

It sounds like you aren't treating long enough. Ich doesn't disappear in 3-5 days. What is your temp at normally? How long has the tank been cycled? Are you leaving your light on when you treat?

I treated for 7 days. Temp is around 80 deg and the lights are left on for 12 hours a day. I have restarted treatment, this time I plan to do 14days with quick cure. Yes my tank has been cycled. Ammonia and nitrites- 0, Nitrates - 10ppm, and PH- 7.
