Wow that does look like a parasite. Any way you could set up a saltwater dip?

maybe guppy will know looks like a big ****t

well I think he had a parasite, he stopped eating and had stringy white poop, and I treated for it with Jungle brand "Parastie Guard" added salt and did a waterchange before treating. Then this started coming out about a day and a half after treating. It keeps getting longer and longer though in the past two days. At first I thought it was just him passing whatever bad stuff he had in his stomach but it's gotta be the prolapsed rectum thing. It looks like it's part of his insides. He hasn't eaten in 5 or 6 days can't remember when I noticed it. He appears to be swimming fine he just stares at the food though without eating it. His colors seem ok (a little dull) but not real bad. I dunno I just figure I'll keep his water clean and see if he pulss through. What causes this? Could it be a parasite that caused it?

And yes it looks even more disgusting when you can see it clearly:barf:

Yes, it does look like an extreme case of prolapsed rectum, I have never seen one that bad. The white stingy poop was probably a protozoal infection like hexamita, a bad case of that can cause the tissue holdi=ng the intestines in place to soften and even without that, think of what happens to you after several days of diarhea, especially after being constipated.
I am afraid the prognosis for your fish is not very good, clean water and something like stress coat can help. It might retract on it's own or you can try to gently press it straight back through the vent, use surgical gloves so as not to further damage the tissue. This often works for much less severe cases but in this one it is doubtful.

thanks for the help guys. I talked to my wife this morning and she said it was only sticking out a little bit this morning so hopefully it is retracting but I haven't been able to look at it myself. She was thinking it would have fallen off but she couldn't find it anywhere so I don't know. I know there is no fish in there that could bite it off though hopefully. I will update later tonight when I get to look at it.

Keep us posted, fish are far more resilient than mammals.
