The white 'goo' was most likely glaire. That's a material produced during egglaying that resembles albumen and is thought to make egglaying easier on the female and eggs. Sperm packets are usually retained by the female internally for later use on additional broods.
If the eggs are gone this soon, chances are the eggs were not viable. Female clarkii usually don't eat their eggs under stress since many berried females can be found in bait shops still carrying viable eggs. Look to temperature being too high (should be below 78F), pH of the water (should be neutral). Otherwise, diet may be the issue. Providing a variety of meat AND plant proteins will go a long way towards strengthening the female's egg development and fecundity.
