HITH?! Velvet?! He's only like 2 and a half inches long. I clean the tank like 70/80 percent a week and its not overstocked. I don't have the params (was gonna go get a test kit in the am) but I did have an issue with this new food I fed for a week or so that made the water quality decline rapidly (about 4 days ago I stopped feeding it). Since switched back to omega and have done 3 huge wc's since then. I didn't even see the "pores" on his head until I went to take a pic of the haziness on it. His EBJD tankmate and a cory cat also have this weird bluish white tinge on their bodies in areas. Help!

This issue is water quality related. Keep water well aerated and do water changes. You need the test kit though to measure your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. That will help a lot so you can do as many water changes as necessary.

:/ He's acting perfectly normal, same little b-hole self, bossing everyone around and eating great.

Thanks Lupin. I don't know what it was about that food but it made the water smell horrendous, I can only imagine what my params spiked to :( I'm gonna go pick up test kit asap.

How are the fish so far? Another water change won't hurt.

I did about a 90%+ on Sunday (water smelled fouuuul from that food) then another on Tuesday of 80%. They are all acting normal, I fed them this afternoon, everybody ate then did a 80 percent wc about 2 hrs ago. You think I should do another one in the morning before I leave to get the test kit?

Well. Things aren't improving. The params are okay. Barely any nitrates (around 5) 0 on ammonia and nitrites. Yesterday I added salt and this product that showed a similar affliction the package called quick cure. Its composed of formalin and malachite green.

The package indicated the slime stuff on thefish is some protozoan. The fish are all still eating but activity seems declined. The festae's head looks worse. The "pores"on his head are getting more prominent and the film seems larger. (I'd upload a pic but my router is acting up so posting from my phone. According to the package on the third day you do a wc. So waiting til tomorrow to do another. Is that med going to work?
Is there anything that would be more effective?
