What Would You Do w/ a 125 gal? Let me know what you would stock a 125 with. Several smaller pike or a breeding pair of ??? or ??? They will be in the tank for life unless aggression is a prob.

ps. I don't want a single specimen tank. Also list species other than pike if you want and think the combo would look nice.
pss. I'm ordering some fish from Rapps already and would like to add to the list. The ones I'm ordering are NOT going in the 125.

Personally, i love how Parachromis and pikes mix.....the pikes usually don't run the tank, but the jags or whatever are pretty out going and it can rub off on them. You can also mix them with RT, red devils, midas, any aggressive cichlid that can pull off a community setting.....I have mine with a Flowerhorn (male), gold tiger mota female, jag, eye bitter some silver dollars a few plecos and a red tailed shark.

How would GTs do with pike? I would like more than one pike so what would be a nice active pike that would do ok with others and be comfortable with 6'x1.5' footprint?

Green terrors would likely work. If you want more then one pike, do a pair of the same species. Personally, of what Rapps has currently, I would get Crenicichla missioneira.

Check out the second pike pic from the top in the link below. That's a female(edit: the above pic is a female too, see the orange belly).

I guess they only get about 8".

Some large Geophagus, severums, and chocolate cichlids should work well if you want color and a variety of shapes. Crenicichla proteus would work well also.

If you got say, some cobras, definitely choose more aggressive tankmates as mentioned in previous replies.

I'm setting up a 125 pretty soon also. I'm going to do a jag, green terror, and maybe a texas (or something similar) along with a pike and cat. HTH

3 crenicichla vittata, 1 hoplarcus psittacus, a couple vieja synspilum, some SDs, and 1 flagtail prochilodus. Thats what I would do with it....

I already have a setup with Pikes, Viejas and SD. My next is gonna be the 3 new marms and large group of Geos. (Multiple species)

I like the hoplarcus psittacus but I haven't seen any for sale lately.

I researched the 'proteus' and the 'missioneria'. Very hard to choose, I like them both.... I have always wanted some 'Cobra'!!! Not gonna buy them from Jeff when Ken has them for almost half the price. How large do they get and how would they do with veija argentea and/or hoplarcus psittacus?

Thanks for the replies;)

I'll second that! My 5 Loisellei are getting on just fine with my 2 Xingu I pikes. Also, my Endlicherii and Delhezi are getting along with the rest of the gang; so pikes and polyopterus seem to be a good mix as well.

Well guys, looks like my choice of pike is gonna be 'proteus'. I was ordering some other fish from a fella in Michigan and my order was gonna go airport to airport but the airline he was gonna use doesn't fly to Nashville on Saturday. So I just happen to ask if he had any pikes and he said he had proteus, comps, regani, notathalumus, and orange pike(xingu I, I think). Rapps has them for $75 a pair and this guy is gonna sell me a pair @ 4" for $20.:) My question is should I order two pair in case he doesn't sex them right and hope for atleast one male or female? And how would the fish I listed two posts back, do together long term?

Thanks
Jamie
