No hes not timed if hes in hes hide as soon as you walk in the room hes out and over to you , if you put your hand or anything in the tank he has no fear and is there , going to keep away from worms for now and use as last resort and now only going to offer food every 2 to 3 days rather then daily , have some white fish and mackeral on order so will try rhis
All the water is fine i did first have him at 77 but dropped this down to 76
Going by the advice im getting it does feel that hes just settling and its me getting impatient ☺ , hopefully my next post will be to say hes eating everthing that goes in the tank

So the guys eating ☺
I noticed he was swimming and turning and rubbing hes back against the floor and started to do it more regular i couldnt see nothing on him but thought id run a treatment of ich just incase and upon doing this i was raising the temp to the 86 to speed up the ich cycle as recomeneded the got to 81 and i stopped there didnt really want to chance to 86 ive done 2 lots of treatment 1/2 dose ws3 and hes seemed alot more alert and for the last 2 days hes been eating quite abit :-) im assuming its the higher temp that has triggering the feeding response which i was going to keep at 81 for about 10 days but if hes eating and seems happier at higher temp do i leave it at this or drop a little to maybe 79
Hes still turning a rubbing hes back on the floor so going to continue the ich treatment and hope this stops it

I used to be like that going for the meds every time there is a problem, evident or suspected, including the ich.

Later I've learned and experienced that even if a fish develops a light case of ich after rehoming, it goes away on its own if the water is clean and the fish experiences no stress, of the avoidable kinds anyway.

If a fish develops ich after a while, it means there is a source of stress, which compromises the immune system. Treating for ich is often needless as the source of stress must be found and removed and the fish will recover on its own.

Finally, ich is one disease that's rather easily ID'ed by us. If you don't see the characteristic white crumbs on the fish, it may not the the ich. A lot of other parasites (and ammonia too BTW) can irritate fish's skin.

No there was no white spot i just thought maybe early ich and the ich treatment ive used treats otherstuff as well so thought if not ich it could be one of those before treating i tested the water and all levels were good , do you recomend to stop the treament and what do you recomend to do with the temps ? whilst hes eating should i leave at 81 until he has a few more feeds then bring it down a little

IDK about stopping the treatment. You had said the fish improved evidently. I was only reflecting in general.

Is your test kit a liquid one?

wyckii seem to accept various temps. So long you have more than needed DO (safety margin) even at the higher temps, you should be fine.

As I stated before, I'd not worry about the fish not feeding or not feeding much for a month or two, if all troubleshooting comes up with no red flags.

Just quck update fish Is doing well no more rubbing very active and alert feeding well well eating miscles the previous owner was feeding it 10 tesco muscles per night and talk about fussy if i put iceland muscles in it will pick them up and spit them out put tesco ones in it eats them ☺ , wont eat nothing else probably were its been feed on muscles but going to cut the regularity down and keep introducing other food so he has more of a variety , just want to thank everyone for the responses and advice

I'd not expect a healthy and long lived fish if fed only mussels, unless perhaps they are soaked in VitaChem or some such quality supplement.

What is the level of thiaminase in mussels? In any case, they won't address all the dietary needs of the fish, especially long term.

Variation is highly beneficial for health or just a high quality pellet would be too.

Iceland versus Tesco is funny... but tells me the fish is spoiled and not hungry, hence choosy.

Yes not sure how long the fella had it feeding on muscles but cutting the feeding down and introducing other stuff , now hes eating sure it wont be long till he starts taking most stuff
