Xanthic?

It is what they are called when they are not your normal jags and not the true Golden Jags.

Definition of Xanthic: 1. Tending toward a yellow color, or to one of those colors, green being excepted, in which yellow is a constituent, as scarlet, orange, etc.
2. Possessing, imparting, or producing a yellow color.

It is hard to tell in this picture, but you can see the yellow in his body. I will try to get better ones up.

I knew what it meant, I just thought the jag didnt fit the description

Rallys, and NE Cichlids....

First of all, I want to say that I have been nothing but impressed by NE Cichlids - stellar in my book.

As for this particular fish - Xanthic usually is attributed to an overall yellow fish (Like Bolty's golden jag.)

Then there are the "Gold Jags" which are copper with little or no markings.

Then there are yours, which are normal Jags with an increased amount of gold/yellow pigment. These are new, and have been floating around. I would suggest you come up with an all-new name for them yourself. Maybe "Gold Based Jag" or something like that?

(The above was not in any intended order.)

Hope this helps, Jude

not new, they are normal jags in breeding coloration ;) here are some pics of my wild jags I collected myself in breeding mode.

I don't think he is in breeding mode. He is the only fish in the tank. Had him here for a week and half and he stays this color. There is nothing in the tank to spark his interest, unless he sees his reflection. LOL

NE Cichlids, did you see the fry in the picture with him? :)
