(Sorry, thought you were referring to the OTHER jaguar, not yours. My bad)

But there are regular jags with yellowish coloration as per my description. Just a really neat variation.

Rallys, and NE Cichlids....

First of all, I want to say that I have been nothing but impressed by NE Cichlids - stellar in my book.

As for this particular fish - Xanthic usually is attributed to an overall yellow fish (Like Bolty's golden jag.)

Then there are the "Gold Jags" which are copper with little or no markings.

Then there are yours, which are normal Jags with an increased amount of gold/yellow pigment. These are new, and have been floating around. I would suggest you come up with an all-new name for them yourself. Maybe "Gold Based Jag" or something like that?

(The above was not in any intended order.)

Hope this helps, Jude

I have always know these to be the "Gold" Jags. I have seen different shades of the them, some darker than others, but all have been sold as "Gold". I have know "Xantic" Fish to be Yellowish in color and not fully Yellow. Basiclly a normal species with a yellow tint in their body.

I don't think he is in breeding mode. He is the only fish in the tank. Had him here for a week and half and he stays this color. There is nothing in the tank to spark his interest, unless he sees his reflection. LOL

I have several that flux in and out of coloration from time to time...have over 30 pairs and some 28 unpaired in individual tanks...they will go from the normal brown to the yellow for weeks at a time even if alone...maybe a "dress up" for a potential mate :)

Those Xanthic gar are amazing! Better than albino by far!
