LOL, here comes trouble. Yes Jeff, he's F1, million or so probably. ;)

Stunning midas. I am happy for you Neil, this guy could not have found a better owner. Here is a fun fact for you:

Your midas = has a xanthic
My midas = needs a xanax

Small world huh??

Gorgeous midas. For you to call it a midas it must be legit. Nice to see you post pics on here. Keep us updated

Thanks. I tend to consider the terms "midas" and "red devil" as trade names for those fish lacking provinance back to the wild, which is what this fish would fall under. All I can say with any certainty about the parents of this male is that they were unrelated, and both fish were orange.

Why is it xantic? Looks like a regular creamsicle Midas to me.

As stated previously, he's yellow/white, not orange/white like a standard creamsicle midas. The females in this spawn were solid yellow. The photos were taken with a $25 point & shoot so pretend that his color is the same as a lemon. ;)

Xanthochromism (also called xanthochroism or xanthism) is a term that may be applied to birds, fish and other animals whose colouration is unusually yellow through an excess of yellow pigment, or possibly a loss of darker pigments that allows yellow pigment to be unusually dominant. It is often associated with the lack of usual red pigmentation and its replacement with yellow.

Very nice! How big is he? .

Thanks. He's approx 8" in TL.
