LOL@fish apprentice.

Right its funny.. when any little thing happens he calls me to make sure its okay, asks me which foods he should be feeding at what rate etc.. basically everything haha he wants to join this site but is actually starting a pretty good music career (he plays jammy folk) so he doesn't have time to get into it

Creni I'm in the same boat.. when I saw some baby Dorado for 50$ ea (rapps I think) I wanted to snag one but didn't have the funds. I like the idea of bicuda over other boulengerella because they are pretty unique amongst them, the tail is really pretty lol and gets massive, and overall end size makes me want one more then others. Pretty pumped to watch it hunt (I'll try to take some video). They inhabit calmer water so it isn't used to current at all (as most boulengeralla are), which is something else I like because my other fish don't like mad current. This guy is basically my replacement atf lol.

Odoes are cool, that kid I referred to as my fish apprentice has a little one that just started taking pellet after starving for 2 weeks. A group of Odoe w/ a group of bichir would be a really neat African biotope

Theyll be QTed with an azul pbass in my 30 ga and pellet trained. Which brings up another question, how long is it safe to starve such small pikes? ive done pbass but never a pike characin so this is uncharted waters for me

I see another issue in your question - P Bass are very aggressive eaters, might not be the best tankmate for a small pike your trying to ween. As for how long......... all fish are different best to get them eating something right away even if it's minnows. Once they start eating daily for a few weeks and show no signs of disease then ease into it I'd say going no longer than a week for a small fish - stress is the #1 killer and pikes stress quickly.
