Can you use all foam blocks (I think six) our do you recommend the carbon and other filter media recommend on the ac110 directions? How many inches do you need between the tank and the wall to fit an ac110? Thanks!

Between the tank and the wall you'll need 5" of space. A new aAC110 comes with one foam block, carbon and bio max. I use the foam block, which is thuroughly rinsed in hot tap water on a weekly basis. I also use the biomax, which should be rinsed with tank water, for a little extra bio media although my main bio filter is the xp3.

The tank is a 180g heavily stocked with two Ac110s and a single xp3. The tank gets 50% w/c on a weekly basis with perfect, clear water and nitrates of 20-30PPM before w/c.

My wife gave me a AC110 for Christmas, unfortunately, it doesn't fit on the back of my tank. Between the two corner overflows that are built-in and the glass center brace there isn't enough room. So, I took back the AC110 and picked up an XP3.

The manager at the store was great. The XP3 was listed at 179 at the store, she let me show her the price online which was more than 70 less. Needless to say, I was thrilled to get the online price.

I hooked it up with what came in the box. It has the filter pads and bio-chem zorb that came in the box. The instructions suggest bio-chem stars and ceramic rings for the middle tray. I have ultra bio filtration in my sump. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to add to the XP3? Should I go ahead and add the bio material? Should I add more pads? I know that either way won't hurt anything, just interested in your thoughts.

Thanks!
