XP3 Question

I ordered an XP3 yesterday and am awaiting for it to ship.

What media comes with them out of the box? I did order an extra box of micro filtration pads.

This filter is going on my 125g in addition to a ac110, xp1, whisper 60.

I can't tell you how much but it does come with bio media and staged mechanical filtration meaning it has one course sponge and one finer sponge.

i'd trash the whisper 60. I don't like those filters

Rena has a video on their website of setup and from the video it looked liked the bio filter that came with it filled about 20% of the middle tray. http://www.rena.net/videos/filstar-xp.html

I just didn't want to have to place a 2nd order right away if I can wait tell I make it to the store in a week.


The whisper 60 is the only filter from my old walmart 55g that fit over the lip of the 125g.

im pretty sure that it comes with just the bottom tray sponges. pick up some biomax from your lfs or online and fill the second and third tray with it.

My LFS is 100 miles away. I hope the filter comes by friday as I'm going on a road trip this upcoming weekend.

It should come with 4 sponges...two coarse and two fine, that fill the bottom tray....a bag of bio chem stars...a bag of bio chem zorb... and finally a white polishing pad at the top.

You may want to get more bio material, like substrait pro or biomax. But other than that its good to go.
