I got a new xp3 for my 75 a few months back, I know its overkill but i wanted the insurance. First thing you do is go online and find the cheapest possible price you can find. Then go to petsmart, they price match I believe the retial for a xp3 around 130. I paid 90 for mine. The filter comes with everything you need to set it up and run it, tubing, filter and basic media. If you need to do anything like phosphates or ph control or to soften the water you will need additional media for it. It comes with 2 small and 2 medium mechanical filtration pads
(dont ask me what this is its there smallest non micro and the next step up for filtration, they measure in holes per square inch). and a charcoal pad. For my tank I took the bio media out of the old tank and used that. as far as whether the filter will be enough for you tank that all depends on what ur putting in it. If your putting 1 neon in it yeah itll be 1000 times what you need but if ur putting a huge biolode onto the filter then it may not be enough. I guess to tell you that we need to know a little more about whats goin in the tank. hopefully this helps, its a great filter for the price, ive had mine up and running since december and the only problems have been a few algae blooms.
