Im going to get a xp3 for my new 120 and i need to know some info about it
will the 1 xp3 be enough for the 120 or will i need a AC110 also?
does the xp3 come with hoses in stuff to go to the tank?
do i need to buy any media for it?

I got a new xp3 for my 75 a few months back, I know its overkill but i wanted the insurance. First thing you do is go online and find the cheapest possible price you can find. Then go to petsmart, they price match I believe the retial for a xp3 around 130. I paid 90 for mine. The filter comes with everything you need to set it up and run it, tubing, filter and basic media. If you need to do anything like phosphates or ph control or to soften the water you will need additional media for it. It comes with 2 small and 2 medium mechanical filtration pads
(dont ask me what this is its there smallest non micro and the next step up for filtration, they measure in holes per square inch). and a charcoal pad. For my tank I took the bio media out of the old tank and used that. as far as whether the filter will be enough for you tank that all depends on what ur putting in it. If your putting 1 neon in it yeah itll be 1000 times what you need but if ur putting a huge biolode onto the filter then it may not be enough. I guess to tell you that we need to know a little more about whats goin in the tank. hopefully this helps, its a great filter for the price, ive had mine up and running since december and the only problems have been a few algae blooms.

does petsmart pricematch any store or only their own?
im going to have some cichlids in it, and right now they are in a 46 and a AC70 i think it is keeps the tank clear and clean. i have in it 2 6 inch parrots, 1 5inch frontosa, 2 4inch frontosas 3 2 inch frontosas and thats it
the baby frontosas are going to stay in the 46
so i have 5 fish plus im will be getting a arowana and maybe a shovelnose and the list may go on from there. should i try and get 2 xp3 filters or 1 xp3 and 1 ac110?

Some Petsmart stores pricematch other online stores, but most stores only pricematch prices on Petsmart.com. As for your tank, I would get 2 XP3's; but an XP3 & an Aquaclear 110 would work.

I too have xp3's. On my 135g I run 1 xp3, 2ac110's, and 1 penguin350.
I also have 1 powerhead 802(I forgot the brand name). However, I have large cichlids in the tank. There are 5 6-7" midas, 1 6" jag, 3 6-7" female dovii
and 2 10" oscars(just received last week). So, as you can see I need lots of filtrayion.:headbang2
I would not use an xp3 by itself. Always have extra filtration just incase somethinghappens to one of the filters.:D

im thinking if i can get a good price on the xp3s im gona get 2 of them.
what is the best media to put in it?

I would use the black sponges that comes w/ the filter for mechanical filtration and the the other trays w/ fluval biomax rings for biological filtration. If you don't want to use the biomax rings, you can use any type of biological media in those trays.

will the aquaclear tube things work?
also how many empty trays will i have if i use all the black sponges?

You can fit 4 of the black sponges in the bottom tray and then you'll have 2 empty trays on top of that. Yes, you can use the Aquaclear Biomax rings. You can use any type of biological media you want in those trays.
