obviously you don't own any xp's. I have 2 xp3's and although they are good filters they don't even come close to the advertised flow rate unless you have no media in it. I am not saying I am an fx5 fan because I don't own one and frankly I think the fluval filters before it were junk. BUT you would have to buy 2 of them to come close to the same kind of performance as the fx5. So I wouldn't call being filter smart means that we are whinning and crying. It just means we know what we want filters to do for us!!
