Oscars have a life span of about 12 years. So unless your 120 years old you haven't experience long term effects. Just saying you should feed them goldfish. Good food and good water are the way to go.

I find it funny when mine does it, but mine don't do it anymore really, they used to when I'd do tank cleaning but now they act curious. My albino did it all the time until I added a second Oscar then it went away. I think having 2 Oscar's really stop that.
