That may work, with my black aro(she is very timid) I just pinch the shrimp between the glass top and tank framing. She is not happy with this and has been on a bit of a hunger strike. I had always let her pick up the shrimp from the bottom, but lately she started developing cloudy eyes. I figured it was fom scraping against the substrait when retrieving food, since the cloudiness is only towards the front of the eye.
