uhhh, Texas improved?I don;t think so. Seattle? definitely not.
Texas hasn't improved substantially since A-Rod has left the team?
:In the 2003 season, the Rangers finished in last place for the fourth straight year, and after a post-season fallout between Rodriguez and team management, the then-reigning AL MVP and new Rangers captain, Alex Rodriguez, was traded to the New York Yankees for Alfonso Soriano and Joaquin Arias.
I don't see the Texas Rangers fighting to get out of last place. In fact, last year they were very close to making the AL wildcard which means substantial improvement.
The year after A-Rod left Seattle, I believe the team won, 119 games. Not much of an improvement huh?
A-rod just passed Joe DiMaggio's record for the most single season homers by a righty at Yankee stadium and in my book that makes him already one of the all time greats.Try to keep it objective and we can have a good argument, the trash mouth just makes me think you have no case so you denigrate, kill the messenger kind of thing.
Just because he broke a single season record, it doesnt instantaneously make him one of the all time greats. By those standards, you would have Barry Bonds on the top of your list because he owns the single season record. I'm not saying that hes not an excellent player, because he is, but I want to ask you, does he make people around him better. The answer is a resounding no. He couldn't do so in Texas and he's not doing it in New York. The problem is that he's payed 25 million dollars a year. If he were to play for the Sox, that would make up about 1/6 of the red sox payroll. Tell me how that improves a team. Why do you think they want to get rid of manny. Hes incredible offensively, but he doesnt make up for it in leadership or defensively. Manny is a liability defensively, but A-Rod is just a liability

Ortiz is just half a player, he isn;t in the field because he would be a total liability there, even mre than Manny is. That's why he was traded in the frst place. I think Manny is much more valuable than Ortiz to the Sox, let alone in the league.
Most people outside of Boston agree that a DH should not even be considered unless their numbers are way above anyone elses, and tho Ortiz'z numbers are very good but so are others, including A-rod.
While A-rod is out on the field Ortiz is in the clubhouse getting a back rub under the A.C.
There is no comparison , If A-rod did that he would have a lot more homers, RBI's etc etc. As it is their batting numbers are very similar but A-rod has loads more stolen bases, so given that ,A-rod is the better batter at thsi point of this season. The tie-breaker in that decision must go to the guy who does the most for his team and A-rod has been very clutch recently with both the bat and the glove, he is a 5 talent/skill player, Ortiz is a 2 talent player.
Now that is ridiculous man. We KNOW that Ortiz is a liability on the field but why would that make him half a player. I dont understand why you said thats why he was traded in the first place. If the Minnesota twins could go back in time, they would never ever of let Ortiz go. Ortiz has 46 homers, 144 RBI, and is batting 296. He has one stolen base, big deal that A-Rod can steal a few bases. Ortiz has 19 GAME winning home runs or hits and he is the absolute most important player for the red sox. Not even Manny is more important, and I dont care what arguement you present to dispute that.

The $200mill payroll stat is silly because if I were to turn that around , all the money the Sox paid since 1918 til last year was wasted money and their payroll proportionatly much higher by several magnitudes over the Yankees payroll per WS win. The Yanks have a very big market and a very big income, high overheads go along with that, they are only $200 million because they pay $60 million to the league in luxury tax. Steinbrenner re-invests in his team while most other owners take the money and run. Finally last year the Sox management started to understand that if you put a winning team on the field, by buying the best talent you can find, you will make more money and have a better chance of winning, and look what happened, theSox actually won one.
If it were a D.rays fan complaining i would be sympathetic, but for a Sox fan it is just calling the kettle black. You guys have the second highest payroll
Do you also notice that I am giving the players etc some respect instead of name calling?
If A-rod was on the sox, if your management hadn;'t screwed up that deal, would you still be calling him ***-rod as he hit the runs for you guys instead of the Yanks?
I think the MVP will be on whichever of the 2 teams wins the division.
I call A-rod, *** rod, because he plays for the yankees. I still think hes a great player. We have a payroll of about 160 million or so, which even then, compared to the Yankees, is ridiculously low. It would be even lower if the current management had been in there longer, because Manny never would have signed.
Look, steinbrenner does invest in his team, but he does so in purchasing washed out old players or by paying way over market value, a la Jaret Wright. We wouldnt even be discussing the season the yankees have had if it werent for chacon, or aaron small.
